I've been trying to work on a Grundig 3192U, and the ferrite antenna for AM, is attached to the mounting posts by what looks like rubber belts. These flat belts have long since dried and crumbled. This let the ferrite rip free of the monting and took the thin wires with it.. I've measured the pieces and have determined that it was a flat rubber belt 4mm wide, 1mm thick and 16mm inside diameter. Approx 5/8 id and 3/16thick. I'm guessing using silicone O rings would work. I think that standard rubber O rings would melt wit the heat.. Am I on the right track ?

Sir Adam:
I can certainly see the original being subjected to a drying out, shrinking and hardening to become "rock city" in its past decades. Should you even try neophrene, it has its limitations also, BUT if you can find the sizing needed in silicone rubber, then you can be fully expecting a half life of 2 eons.
(and 16mm ? ? ? inside diameter)
. . . . .thats about the full O.D of the loop rod right ?
