There are differences in specs between 6N7 and 6SN7.
Here is my idea why 6N7 was used. 6N7 was available in 1936 while 6SN7 came out in 1941. Your amplifier was probably made between these dates?

:Greetings.I recently purchased an old monoblock Amplifier (havn't got it yet ,it is being shipped to me)Anyways it uses 2 6L6's, 2 6N7,s (not 6SN7's)and 1 6J5.What I can't understand, and this is probably a stupid question but it is bugging me.Why would the amp use 6N7's in the signal path which are twin power triodes instead of just 6SN7's or more 6J5's etc.....What is the signifigance of the 6N7's .Can they be used in cascade like any other triode or are they being used in parallel for some reason ,and could the 6J5 be the phase inverter?Any info would be appreciatd. Thanks
