So I'm at a point with my Philco 46-250 that I want to check AC voltage. No tubes are installed. Between pin 1 of the 35Y4 rectifier and the on/off switch I've got 120vac. On the other side of the switch I have 85vac. Switch in off position. With switch on I have 120vac on both sides of the switch.
Question is... Is what I just explained normal? Also is it normal to have 120vac to chassis ground? Just trying to be safe.
Thanks,
Johnny
What kind of meter are you using? A high impedence meter will give all sorts of weird readings due to several factors. An old ordanary VOM is more useful for readings like this. I'll check your schematic some more and see if I can find a problem, but for now, I'll say you're OK.

If you look at the schematic here on NA it's for the code 121. There are suttle differences between this and the code 125 chassis that is in this radio. Edd posted a schematic here that is closer to my radio. It should still be here. About a week ago.
You can unplug the radio, and measure resistances between various points to see if there is a real problem.
