i have a chance to buy a philco 37-630 console that is in really nice shape and has the shadow meter. does anyone know what a fair price for this might be?

It's worth I would say is what you are willing to pay for it, and how bad you want it.

If it were me, and it's all there in overall good condition. $150-$200 Max.

Hi John,My opinion is that any antique radio is worth what you are willing to pay for it.Price guides are pretty much useless.I would love to have a nice console like you are describing and I would probably be willing to pay about $150 max,depending on condition.From the prices I have been seeing lately for even crappy little plastic table radios from the 50's(Radio Attic),that figure is probably ridiculously low.I don't do E-Pay so my only chance of picking up radios is at the local yard-sales.I am always amused at the high prices I see for very poor quality pieces and therefore haven't bought a radio in years.But,fairly frequently, I read stories of how Joe Blow just picked up a 37-116 in nice shape from a guy down the street for $100.Go figure.
I guess the only person who can decide how much is too much, is you.If you and the seller can agree on a price you are comfortable with,go for it.I hope you get it and enjoy it.Good luck.

Slussers's 6th edition lists the value range as $120-150. That would be for a complete set with all knobs, etc.

I think that price range may be optimistic. Consoles are difficult and expensive to ship - so the market tends to be local.

I wouldn't buy it with the idea of making money.

I have a junk condition 37-650 and it needs to go - so if you need any parts for that one, let me know soon before I junk it. I rather like the model - but this one has a poor cabinet and poor speaker, etc.

I think I'd let it go for $ 20, but it's in Lubbock, TX - and shipping might add more than that. Tony J in the next post can have 2nd call on it - or get whatever parts he needs from you for whatever you don't use off of it.
