Hello all.I would like to know what the best way to clean the inside of tube socket pins to remove build up of gunk(oxidation)etc.Also what is the best way to remove rust from a chassis(what chemicals etc. and how do you cover tube sockets when spray painting chassis?Would masking tape or paper with tape glued on the back cut into circles be good?I would appreciate any tips.Thankyou.

I use the little interdental brushes sold in drug stores moistened with Caig DeoxIT. They work especially well with miniature tube sockets.

To clean sockets I use a gas welding tip cleaner. These are basically small diameter files.

I've used ospho and sandblasting for rust removal...primarily an ospho soak because sandblasting can be messy and tear stuff up due to air velocity.

I use masking tape to mask off sockets prior to chassis painting. You'll also need to mask off all the holes in the chassis so that paint doesn't get all over underside components.
