Hello Al,

Do you have the old original and if so what's wrong with it? Is it part of the volume potentiometer or is it pushbutton etc.?

:Hi Johnny,

It is the off/on and tone control switch. It is not a push button, it is one that you turn. The Bakolite material is burnt by one of the contacts. From what I can tell the contacts are bad. I could probably take it apart to get to the contacts, but I wouldn't be able to rivet the part back on.

:If you want to try to get an original you can try oldradioparts.com (Play Things Of The Past). It's very helpful if you have an original part number and all related info for your set when visiting this site. This guy is located in Van Nuys,CA and he has alot of stuff for alot of radios.

Here's the schematic: http://www.time.com/time/photogallery/0,29307,1893255,00.html

The tone control is a 100K pot, with an ON-OFF switch. You can use any garden-variety 100K switched pot (preferably linear). RadioDaze sells them. The switch is a separate unit, piggy-backed on the pot.

If the shaft is too long, cut it off. If the shaft diameter is too small, improvize. If you need a flatted shaft, file it off.
