Zenith 6s222 Alignment help
4/17/2009 4:58:38 AMPeter G. Balazsy
Do any of you guys have better alignment instructions or are you more familiar with the trimmer cap layout on this Zenith 6s-222?

The instruction that I found on Riders 8-24... say for SW band "C" (5-18mhz) to set the dial to 18mhz and adj cap-K for max,
Then they say to set to 16.5mhz and adj cap-L (under chassis) for max. while rocking the tuner.
Ok great.. I can see that for 18mhz... ok got it no problem... but which trimmer under the chassis is "L" ??
I think it is the one I labeled #3... but then what are caps # 1 and #2 for?

:Hi!Peter, If you Google ( the schematic bank) and click on the link you can get a Beitman's Schematic (FREE) and in the parts section there is a letter designation for each trimmer which is also shown on the schematic. You can identify each one on your radio by which tube it goes to. Good Luck with it! Bob Masse

Hi Peter

I found your schematic in my Zenith Service manual.
I am going to my company to pick up some tools so I will copy the two pages on your set. If you have a fax number I can sent them two you when I get back.

Page 1 is the schematic.
Page 2 has Socket voltages, Alignment procedures and a picture showing location of trimmers. Maybe between the schematic and picture you can figure out which trimmer does what.

:Hi Peter, I've got some stuff from when I did my 6-S-223 which I believe is the same 5638 chassis if you'd like me to send it over to you.

Peter,

I was able to copy both pages of the Zenith Service Manual to PDF format.

If you send your e-mail I will be happy to send them to you.

Larry
