Does some one know the Motorola tube & transistor hybrid radio? I have green one with oval speaker design. I want to know the model number and sckematic diagram.

There was a VERY short time era where there was the use of the “space charge” tubes feeding into a Germanium
Power Output transistor. Circa ~1958. What we would need is for you to examine the set and locate a model number to
be able to research from.

Motorola is usually good, in the respect of their model numbers being pressed / stamped deeply into the metal of the
housing of the radio. Thus, you still being able to get that model number; otherwise, I don’t think any research could be
done without its model number to work from.

I guess the ball is now delivered back into Most Honnable Atsushi’s court. . . . .for its confirmation.

Sir Peter. . . . .Those are some DEE-licious colors of radios, but in researching the 54L chassis reveals there being nary a
transistor in the mix.

Those units are utilizing :

A 1V6 “Pencil tube” for the mixer

A 1AH4 “Pencil tube” for the I.F. amplifier

A 1AJ5 “Pencil tube” for the Det-AVC-1st AF amp

A n n n n n d a BIG ‘ole 3S4 for the Audio output. . . . . .300 MILLIWATTS !! . . . . .babycakes.

Battery operation via a 67.5 V “B battery” and 3V “ A battery”

AC operation via Selenium Rectum-fire and dropping resistors, no exoticas being involved.

Thasssit !

Ah! Edd beat me to it!

Sams Photofact set 266-9 has the service information for Motorola 54L1 through 54L6/ chassis HS-414. The picture in the Photofact is the same as the "Runabout" shown by Peter's post. The Photofact was published in February of 1955.

Yse, That is the radio I have.
Model number is Motorola Runabout, 54L
My radio's color is green.
Does anybody have the schematic diagram?
This is unusual tube & transistor hybrid radio.

I have some pictures. But I do not know how to
upload it.

Here is the schematic for that set of yours. . . . and IF you are finding any transistors used in it, it has been
modified, the closest similarity is the mini “pencil tubes” utilized in its RF stages and 1st audio-AVC-Detector

Its sole semiconductor is the power supply’s selenium rectifier.
