You can always replace with a larger voltage capacitor, but never lower. As long as you have the room, it will work the same and last the same. Ron
::What happens if I replace a 5ufd rated 10v with a 5ufd rated at 450v? Will it still work and will it last?

I'm wondering about the application for the original 5-uF, 10-V cap? That sounds like something in a solid-state ckt, rather than a tube-type radio.

Final audio stage cathode bypass, maybe??
HIt the wrong key, but the 5ufd is in series with a tweeter speaker and is used in a record player. I ended up getting a 50volt to put in there. Thanks for the ideas and suggestions.
I'm thinking that if it is a high freq bypass fotr a tweeter, it should be non-polarized, easily made with two 10 mFd. in series back to back.

Well, the plarity wasn't marked so sounds like you are right. Didn't think of that and have some nonpolarized so will try that. Thanks
