Old Phono Cartridges

Hi folks, I keep getting asked about old record player needles. I personally don't play with the things. Fellas got an Arvin model 558 radio record player. Needs a "crystal" cartridge? Where is a place to find these things?
Thanks, Johnny

:Well I put all this in and then saw the post below mine on needles. Some good info that I'm gonna check out. Is there still a place to buy replacement needles though?

Johnny,
All over the web and ebay. Just Google phono needles.
West Tech Services has all the stuff you need, but may be a bit pricy for DIY'ers. As noted above restored an old cartridge with new guts, but re-make was designed around the original stylus, even with a different armature. Gib at WTS helped and purchased the NOS stylus there.
