Radio Identification

I'm having a challenge positively identifying a Philco Radio I have just purchased.

It's a Canadian model (as am I!), the ident. label says Chassis Type 44, Code 121, which from what I've read indicates is from 1944, but the patent dates are to 1939 only.

Also, there is a code on a printed basic schematic that lists 39-6844E, which fits the patent dates, but I have found no reference to 39-6844E on any sites.

Finally, it looks pretty much like a photo posted of a 41-296, expect it had large vertical wheels for tuning instead of knobs that that unit has.

I suspect models were different in Canada. any assistance in positively identifiying for a brand new member of the "classic" radio fraternity would be appreciated.

Dave.

Hi Dave

I've sent you the Canadian Philco 44 schematic. If it isn't right list tubes in your radio.

Norm

I have the exact same radio. It is labelled as coming from Sinclair Radio Co Ltd. My Dad purchased it new in Montreal. It is a 1939 model year. I have yet to see a picture of it online; although I have seen some that look very close. I also remember seeing one in the club house of the RA Yaght Club in Ottawa around 1970. I can't remember when I last used mine, but I do know I was using it in 1966, to play back music from my tape deck by using the phono input on the back of the chassis.
