Essbee Radio
2/18/2009 6:06:30 PMJohn
I have been staring at this radio for 5 years. I have no idea how to identify it. It says Essbee on the escutcheon. The label in the back is hard to read but says Models AC 523 and 524. I would guess its from the 30's or earlier. Cathedral, 3 knobs.

Any guess would be appreciated.

Try Stromberg-Carlson models 403AA, 523, or 524.

You had my hopes up for a few moments. But no its not a Stromberg. It has a Rola speaker and 5 tubes. I will try to decipher more off the label.
Thanks for the guess. It's appreciated

The tubes are looking from the backside, back to front left... 80 and 45. On the right are 3 24A tubes.

Plugged your tube values into grillecloth.com and on the first list of radios matching the tube layout they show a DeWald with a model number of AC-524. That might be it. Hope that helps.

The Dewald 524 schematic is a good possibility:
