I need some Ni-chrome resistive wire to rewind the volume control on a 1931 Victor model R-16.
The original volume control is none linear. I have install a linear pot but it gets quite hot after approx. 10 minutes of operation, probably because it is only (1 / 20 th) of the original size. Also, I think the radio would work better with a non linear pot.
The Nichrome is approx. 350 ohms per foot.
If anyone knows where I can find some, please let me know
Michael
AES, tubesandmore.com , sells nichrome wire but not that high of resistance. They have 2 - 20 ohms per foot. You might try wire recorder wire which has higher resistance. How about a control from an old TV? Some controls were 2 watt wire wound pots.
