You are trying to link to an image using HTML code when the URL you used is PHP code. It won't work as you do not have access to the picture but an index to the Facebook database containing your picture. That is the beauty of a database driven website. You can't hotlink to images or other data, only to the URL.
Now, here's the trick to do it: get to your album (using the link from your first try: "http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=97520&l=9b3c1&id=653844001"), next right click on the image(s) and select properties. The direct link to your picture(s) will show in a popup box. Copy the link showing in that box (for the pictures you tried to link, the url is:
"http://photos-a.ak.fbcdn.net/photos-ak-sf2p/v76/193/98/653844001/n653844001_97520_1397.jpg"
Now, using the usual HTML code to embed in the post you get this (hopefully it'll work as I can't test it prior to posting on this forum):

You've got that wrong.. the top picture is my "after
shot" I only get time to work on radios after I get off work at the mine where I am the grease monkey for the heavy equipment. I am still learning.
