Ground the grid of the 35L6, see if that stops the buzz.
Lewis
Yes, that seems to kill the buzz grounding the grid of the 35L6, so what does that mean? What could cause that buzz? Sounds just like interference from flourescent lights but don't have any on.
Does the volume control have any effect on the buzzing, or does it just control the radio stations timed in???
Lewis
We were mainly just still worried about it originating from the audio stage or the power supply, but that sort of cleared ‘em.
I still am heavily thinking of interference, be it AC line, fluorescent or some modern electronics fast switching radiations.
Could also be a microphonic tube, tap each one lightly to see if it makes it worse. Or, hand holding the envelope might
dampen the susceptibility of noise and abate the condition.
How’s about running in a second AM radio in the same position, same station tuning, and plugged into the same AC supply
to see if it is also duplicating that reception quirk.
If so then. . . . . s- l – o- w - l -y . . . .rotate the set 90 degrees to utilize the directional characteristics of its built in loop
antenna and see if the “interference” level nulls down at any point.
Waiting for feedback. . . . . .

Buzzes about the same even with the volume all the way down. John
Bad 35L6, huh? Well, we know what, but I'm darned if I know why.
