GLF AM-FM Radio Who was the real manufacturer of this set?

Hello All,
This radio has no model number on it. Is this the Philips or the Pilot or the Detrola? How can I tell? It has 10 tubes including a tuning eye and it has an RCA phono jack. I replaced a lot of capacitors. It also looks like there are a lot of other smaller white capacitors, similar to what you see in the very popular early Pilot tuner. I probably haven't replaced enough capacitors yet for the FM to work. AM (BC) is working quite well. There's a 7F8 and miniature tubes, and octal tubes 6V6 and 5Y3 and the eye tube. I can list all the tube numbers, if necessary.
The band that's holding in the filter capacitor is blocking the values of what's inside the can. I can see that there are two 30 mf caps. But there are two others I cannot see. I cannot see which pin is which. This is also blocked. If nobody knows. I will have to remove the can to get have a better look at it. One is probably a cathode capacitor for the 6V6.

Thanks,

Dave

The one pictured at Radio Attic is the Detrola, which does not have FM.

The GLF sets which did have FM would have been built by either Phillips or Pilot.

Papa,
You are correct. I already went to the radio attic site. I don't have any FM on this radio. If I could see the schematic it would make things a lot easier and less time consuming. If not, eventually I'll find the trouble.

Thanks,

Dave

Go ahead and list all the tubes, possibly someone will recognize the lineup.

Should be able to localize the trouble to the front end or elsewhere. If you can figure out what the FM IF frequency is (may not be 10.7, at that time there were several in use) injecting a signal should tell you if the IF strip works.

If the exact schematic never turns up, it can't be too different from other brands which used a 7F8 in the front end.

In case you didn't know it, the North American Philips model number which was built exclusively for the Grange League Federation was the F-770. No schematic exists in Rider or Sams for that set as far as I know, it was probably never sold under any other brand name than GLF.
