voltage divider

I have an old voltage divider which is 3500 and 13,000 resistance. Do these resistors have to be 5 watt or can they be lower? And can someone tell me where I can purchase the correct resistors without putting them in series?

Depends. If the voltage at the divider is 5V, a few tenths of watts will be necessary. Some variables are missing.
