Rogers Philco?????
1/26/2009 4:24:05 PMMike
Does anyone know if Rogers was using Philco radios in 1934. I have just bought what I thought was a Rogers but turns out to be a model 45L but has a Rogers Batteryless plate on the front of radio. The other thing is you can see the name Philco under the plate still. Also inside the radio it has a roger sticker as well. Kinda cool to see so I asume this is a Rogers. I dont know of a connection with Philco but then again I dont know everything LOL Can anyone help out here. Thanks Mike

It sure does but the the name plate is over the top of the Philco label. You can still see it a bit. The other thing is there is a Rogers label inside the radio. I assume that Rogers was using the philco radio and just putting there name on it?

:Didn't happen. Frankenradio. Some one dropped a Rogers radio into if it is a Philco cabinet and added a Rogers sticker. Rogers had their own distinct lines and definitely didn't have to use Philco.

How many tubes in your chassis and what are their numbers. We might be able to tell you what chassis you have.

This is a Philco 45L inside and out the only thing is that there is a Rogers faceplate and the sticker inside has a Roger production sticker in it. Both the sticker and the plate on the radio are the same age about. All the tubes in this radio are the same as a 45L as well. The age of the radio and everything else looks original ass well.

Yep your right. Just found out this is a Frakenradio oh well they got me whoever did it. They did a good job on it and looks like was done a long time ago It is a Philco all the way minus the faceplate. Wounder if I can find one to make this right again LOL. By the way the sticker inside was off a Roger tube replacement sticker. So all you ppl out there watch what you buy. At least I can see this what I bought it for. Mike

:No doubt it was done aways back. So .. maybe it's not a Rogers, but if it looks half as good as that 45L photo Warren posted I'd say you got a real nice find.

All the best with your radio 80)

The only good thing to come out of this is that the radio is as good if not better then the one in the photo. The only thing is im not into philco but already have a buyer for the radio. He like it the way it is even though I told him the truth about it. By the way you are right I figure this was done a long time ago. The old sticker inside is old and it looks like the plate has been on there a long time. I was told some ppl did this way back when just to say they had a Rogers Radio. Guess things haven changed much lol. At least the new ower of this radio will know the truth about this radio and not try and hide it.
