Squeels
1/23/2009 9:51:42 PMPhilco model 635
When the volume is turned up I get a real high pitched squeel like a whistle. After the set gets warmed up it doesn't seem to squeel.

Hi, have you changed the electrolytic caps on your set? If you haven't you might need to. A few days back I recapped a Philco and it would play fine at a lower volume but when I turned it up it would squeel/whistle. Well to make a long story short I had replaced a multi section electrolytic cap with 2 seperate electrolytic caps and one of them I just went to chassis ground. Well I undid that ground and grounded it were the multi section was grounded and it took care of the problem. Hope this helps, George

Thanks, George.
Well, I have changed the filters just as you did but pretty sure I got them in right. Will recheck it. I also rebuilt all of the block condensers.
