Quick Question, I have a RCA 25BP i would like to replace the power cord on this model but it seems the power cord has a built in 545 ohm resistor, that explains the third wire in the power cord. Could i sub a wire wound power resitor in its place and use a convential power cord?
Thanks for any help
You could use a diode. Have a look here

There is under resources " tips and training " A good article with chart about line cord resistors.
If you want to keep a vintage tube rectifier, you could use a 117Z6-GT which is of the right vintage. Some RCAs came with either a 35Z5-GT with resistor line cord or 117Z6-GT which works directly from the line with no resistor line cord. If you go with a solid state diode, you will need a series dropping resistor. Fred
