Hello Timothy:
Glad to have you. I restore Hallicrafters radios. At one time I too had a collection of old radios. I sold the whole lot some years ago to another collector. As of today I do this as a hobby, and give the radio as a gift to people that will take care of them.
I'm nuts about collecting radios! Most collectors now days are looking for the Packard Bell AR-851 (Gilligan's Island Radio). Thanks again for the welcome, I did not know if this group was a private site or not. Again, thanks.

Welcome Timothy! This site really is a goldmine of information. Sorry to say I am also "addicted" to old radios and restoration, and have learned so much from reading the posts on this site. I had to take a work assignment a couple months ago in the Middle East for the next 2 years (homebase is Scottsdale, AZ) and I'm definitely having "radio withdrawal symptoms". Fortunately, I can still keep up with what's going on through the NA forum.
Allan,
Do you have an APO or an address over there? Maybe all of us over here should send you a project and parts to help you through your "withdrawl" I would be happy to donate a radio. I guess I am what the councelors call an enabeler. How about it all you Nostalgiaair readers?
Jon.
Jon:
I am truly appreciative of your very kind offer, and thank you for allowing me to be "enabled". I hope I didn't leave you with the wrong impression. I'm not in the Middle East on a military assignment (way too old for active duty) but rather on assignment working for the Abu Dhabi government (UAE) as a Human Resource consultant. Unfortunately, there aren't too many opportunities in the States for folks in my age group, especially with the economy being what it is. Still have family (and a granddaughter) to support in the US so here I am. Being away from family (and my radio hobbies) really takes a toll over here. I was fortunate to have my wife send my Zenith T/O Royal D7000Y over so I can tinker and listen to shortwave. Really miss my workbench, test equipment and radios waiting for restoration! This site certainly helps me keep my sanity and stay focused. Some really great guys and expert advice on here.
Thanks again for your kind offer; it goes toward showing the quality of folks on NA.
Best regards to all.
