Grundig tube set
11/19/2008 2:28:18 PMDale
I recently acquired a late 50s/early 60s Grundig -- model unknown (back is missing). The radio has five tubes (plus a tuning indicator tube). Three of the tubes are EL84, EF82, and ECC85. The numbering is worn off the other two tube -- any thoughts on what the other two tubes might be? THANKS!

Dale, could not get your email adr. by clicking on ur name, so must communicate with u here. I have a Philips-Sagitta 363A which has some of those foreign tubes. Mine made in Germany, has German words on cover and will also operate on the European voltage of 220 volts. Yours or mine not listed here under these names. Mine does not have the ef 82, mine is ef 89 and othes are ech 81, eab 80, and a ez 80 which I think is rectifier tube. Mine has a EM 80 for tuning eye tube. E mail me for more info, Jim

Jim, Thanks for the follow-up. One of my unknown tubes is _ch81, so based on your tube set I'm going to assume it is a ECH81. My other unknown tube ends in "80", but I don't know the preceeding letters. The Grundig I have was made for the USA market -- operates on 110 volts.

Dale,
Seems that the EF82 tube was not common in radios.
Could it possibly be EF89 like Jim has in his radio?
And like Jim mentioned, it probably has an EZ80 rectifier, and the tuning indicator is probably an EM85.

Carl & Jim,
I am sure of 3 of the 6 tubes: EL84, ECC85, & EM84 (tuning tube). The other (uncertain) 3 are EF8? (probably EF89), ?CH81 (probably ECH81) & ????80 (this one might be EABC80). Do either of you know of a source for Grundig schematics? THANKS! Dale

Dale,
There is a link to a 2066PX schematic on this page that might match your radio:

Carl,
THANK YOU! The link you provided is an excellent resource for what I need to restore my Grundig -- my radio is not exactly like the 2066, but very close.
