I Found A Gold Mine

Hello all! Still working my static problem on the Airline but today I went to the big city to see my sister-in-law. My older brother passed away 11 years ago. He was into these old radios. He was also a ham radio guy. She said she had some of his old tubes for me. Well there were boxes and boxes of tubes. Many still in the original boxes. This was the cake. The icing came when she pulled out two boxes of manuals. I've only looked through one of them and there are original "M.N. Beitman Radio Diagram and Servicing Information" manuals dating from 1926 thru 1944. They still have the original price on them. $2.50. These manuals are by "Supreme Publications" of Chicago and are the originals. Not copies. There is also a copyright 1939, 1941, and 1943 "Radio Troubleshooter's Handbook". 3rd edition by A. Ghirardi. I look forward to doing a complete inventory on the other boxes. This info will sure help a beginner like me. The tubes are alot of the popular 80's, 45's, 27's, 5Z3's and on and on. I don't know anyone who works on these old radios and I am just so excited I had to tell someone. I see many of you looking for schematics that may not be on NA and I look forward to maybe being able to help in the future with this, once I get it all inventoried of course. Wow! What a great day!

Cool Johnny!
Congratulations on an early Christmas! :O) I kind of did the same thing over the past two years but I purchased or found many of the things you talk about
too. I am rereading that book or maybe trying to comprehend it this time. It is a great book for people like us. I found out today attending my first Radio
Club meeting at the Treasurer of our club's house and I absolutely marveled at his radio library, work shop,
bench, parts, radios! advertising pieces, etc etc etc.
I was in heaven for a few hours! Picked up some valuable tips and help with some "problem" radios and
drove home two hours listening to the radio. A perfect Saturday.

Well, thats a great find!!

Since I work a lot with pre-1929 radios , I would be very interested in the type 26 tubes. I have an immediate need for several pieces of this type.

Congrats - this is a great find. Someday, I am going to open up a number of bins that I put away years ago and "re-find" some radios I put away.

:Hello Lou. Just looking through the boxes a bit and I have seen #26 tubes. I will try to find them all and test them and get back to you. I love the '30's and '40's myself and I haven't seen any of those with the 26 tube in them.

Good for you Johnny!

I have recurring dreams about finding boxes of tubes and rooms full of radios.

Maybe the solution to your static problem is in one of those boxes?

Gary
