Stromberg Carlson Model 1235 Series 10
12/3/2000 12:28:33 AMBrian
I have a Stromberg Carslon radio, model 1235 Series 10. I have had no luck finding info on it. I would like any info on this radio, such as its technical specs and how I could find its possible worth to a collector. It doesn't seem to work but it may be worth something to someone, maybe for parts. I wanted to find info on it before I removed the radio and made use of its cabinet for something else. It has been in my family for years and I don't want to destroy it if it may be worth something to someone. I believe it may be a signature model but am not sure. I have seen very little info on this brand of radio, so any info is greatly appreciated.

Hi,
Most of the value is in the whole console radio- not simply the chassis.

I did a quick look for the schematic here, but I believe a page is missing. I will need to check and verify that. As for the description in Bunis' Fourth edition "Guide to Old Radios", THeir description is that it is a console w/record player, AM, 2 short wave bands, and 2 FM bands (98-108Mc and 45-96Mc (Mhz) I would guess).

They do not put a high valuation upon it- about 80 dollars.

The chassis by itself with speaker, might bring fifteen to twenty.

: Hi Brian,
If you still have the Stromberg Carlson in one piece I urge you to not destroy it as it's really worth restoring. I too have a model 1235 in a beautiful Chinese style Mahogany cabinet that has been in my family for fifty plus years. As a child I enjoyed listening to it's rich, warm sounds and watching the "Magic Eye" glow. Anyway, schematics are still availible from Sam's Photo Facts. You can order copies from their web site. Tubes are also fairly easy to come by too.
