Philco model 50
11/2/2008 8:39:20 AMFrank Goddard

I am busy working on a Philco Model 50. The dial drive is slipping and no amount of adjustment seems to work. The metal to metal contact on the spindle seems fine as does the spring compression - but still the tuning condenser drive shaft slips. Any suggestions or perhaps an idea for a new drive method.
Help appreciated.

Frank. Doncaster England.

:Hello Frank:
The tuning condenser should turn free and easy, take the drive off and work the tuner shaft. if it is stiff you need to clean and lube all the shaft contact points. I have come across this many times.
