Triode noise squelch circuit
10/30/2008 7:13:13 PMDick W8TBK
Hi All,
Back in the 60's or 70's I used a triode noise squelch circuit with my receiver. It was called a TNS and used a 12AX7 tube. I have long lost the circuit diagram and no longer have the unit.
Does anyone know what I am refering to and does anyone have a schematic? I want to use it with my SP-600 on 40 meters CW.
Thanks for helping,
Dick

Hi Dick! Check ARRL's QST from September 1969, page 18 for a discussion of tube and solid state squelch circuits. I don't see TNS mentioned, but there is a circuit using a 12AX7. If you're a member of the ARRL you can log-on their website, do a search in the QST archives, and print a pdf copy of the article. Otherwise, there's probably a lot more in the ARRL Handbooks.
