I would be very careful since the ductwork is actually grounded.
Some old radios may have a path to B plus or the line somewhere in the input. In that case, you could hurt yourself, cause a fire or what have you.
Before connecting to ductwork, you should check the input circuit of your radio.
Thanks
Lou
:Do you need a antenna for your old radio and do not want to run a long wire ??? I have tried this and it works GREAT!!!!! If you have a forced air heating/cooling system in your house use the duct work as an antenna. Simply connect antenna wire from radio to heat/cool register and WOOLA....instant antenna!!!! The duct work that runs though out the house works as a massive antenna!!!!
:Well, this is a neat idea, BUT

:Also, modern ductwork is non-metalic

modern ductwork is non-metalic Where do you live that the ductwork is not made of sheet metal? I have been a sheetmetal worker over 40 years and here it is still metal. Pacha73 in Canada

:Ductwork in the states varies from ductboard to sheet metal according to how much you want to pay or how much the contractor is willing to spend on a condo, an apartment, condo,or subdivision. Metal duct should have a canvas connection at the air handler and ductboard is fiberglass with an aluminum outer cover. Still, that doesn't mean I'd use it as an antenna???

:Here in Texas the newer flex-duct has been the most common in recent years, the better stuff has an outside foil wrap though.

:My reference was to flexable insulated ducts. The ones in my attic have a plastic core covered by an insulation blanket. That is what I see sold in the 'big box' stores as well.
