Schemathic symbol I can't figure out

Hi:

In a Hanson 100 schematic they use a unusual symbol I never saw before in 6A7 tube diagram (rider 7-9). It's a large flat 90 degree angled line. Since the 6A7 has two connected grids (pin 3) does this represent that? Also I noticed that the sequence of these grids are out of the order from later grid diagrams i.e.those that I download from Nostalgia. How are they read to see which pin number they belong to. The plate-filament-Cathode symbols are self explanitory its the grids that are confusing. Thank you.

I assume you mean Halson 100. The second grid going up from the Cathode is connected to the Oscilator coil and thus acts as the plate for the oscilator citcuit. It appears that the schematic is trying to represent that grid as a plate in the Osc. circuit thus the flat line rather than the dashed line for the other grids.

It also appears that that grid/plate is pin 4.

Pin 3 appears to be the top grid, closest to the Plate, and they do not show the other grid that is connected internally.

I hope this helps.

Here's the pinout for a 6A7:

Yeah, I agree. Juat think of the tube as being drawn like it is above, the grid is acting like the plate of the oscillator, and the mixing action happens in the other grids. That is why it is called a pentagrid converter.
