missing power transformer
10/1/2008 11:22:05 PMChuck
I am in the middle of restoring a crosley 82cp chassis 75. In Riders, its Crosley page 13-33. The problem is the power transformer is missing and I would like to get a replacement to finish the project. It looks like the transformer lays on its side in the chasis. Someone wrote 300-300 5v 6.3v on a piece of paper. The schematic shows yellow-yellow, red-yellow-red-red, green-green. What do the colors mean on voltages? And last, where can I get a replacement transformer? Thanks again for your help!

Chuck, go to Resources-Color Codes-Power Xfmer on this site for color coding info on xfmr. PL

Radio Daze sells a line of Hammond transformers and should have a unit with the voltages you need. Physical sizes should be listed on their site also just to make sure the replacement is going to fit. Hope that helps.

Since your original transformer is missing the wiring color info on the schematic may not mean a whole lot unless your replacement transformer uses the same color coding. When you go searching for a replacement, you will need to know the current requirements for the HV/B+ side as well as the filament windings.
