Hammond Instrument Co.
9/29/2008 12:39:05 PMSteveS.
The museum I am working with has in the collection a Hammond Instrument Co. Power Cabinet, Model D-20, 115 VAC, 60 Cycles (or Hz) and 177 Watts. I am trying to find out what this might have been used for, or what a typical use would have been. Is it possible it was used in a movie theater for the sound system? Feel free to contact me directly by e-mail at planetarium at heritagecenter dot org.

Thanks for your help.

Check it out……!. . . . . . . . . .(Is about 1/3 way down, in the total summation )

So, if I understand it correctly, the D-20 Power Cabinet we have should be matched up with a Hammond Organ, Model D? or D-20? We have a small organ, but I don't know if it is a Hammond or not. The reference says the D-20 is the same as the C-20, but with a more utilitarian cabinet. The C-20 only has 20 watt output, but the tag on our D-20 power cabinet says 177 watts. BTW, the SN is 5779 if anyone has references to those numbers.

Thanks

That power consumption given is too hefty for that mentioned power of an internal amp, now, since you have the unit to inspect, see if the unit is also including an internal Leslie speaker along with its driver motor, which could account for that extra power consumption.

Edd and all:
Wouldn't you think 177 Watts is the AC input power?

Why . . .soitanly. . .the units AC power input. . . .but for it to solely be used in acquiring that 20W RMS of the power amp in

the unit, . . . . .I would equate that to an automobile getting 5 MPG.

(Awright now. . .for sure, someone's going to come back with….I USED TO OWN ONE OF THOSE ! )
