Fusing....
9/28/2008 4:46:48 PMWilliam
I'm winding up on a chassis that is performing well - but it is obvious that the transformer has been under some strain in the past. It is drawing just under 1 amp in operation and I am thinking about fusing the primary with a 1.25 to 1.5 A fuse (?? Slo-blo or fast??). Also, is there any advantage to fusing the center-tap of B+ to prevent further transformer strain in the event of a bad cap, etc. in the future???

Sounds good to me. I should think a fuse in the primary line of about 1.5 to 2 Amps orta do it. I don't what kind of surge those cold filaments are going to pull at start-up, but I believe a slo-blo would be appropriate.
