Need Help With Antennas
9/14/2008 5:48:56 PMJohnny
Hello! I have several different radios and they all pick up the same AM station but on some of them the reception is better. The radios I reference have built-in loop antennas of different sizes. I'm trying to finish my Airline 62-9 that had no antenna in it when I got it. Just the screw on the back of the chassis for an antenna connection. I'm trying to install one of a couple different loops that I haved salveged from other radios. I get a bit of reception (about the same) no matter which one I try to use but no matter which one I don't get nearly as good reception as I do on the other radios. I can touch the loop and reception is greatly increased. Question: How should the loop antenna be connected to the radio?

Johnny:
Have you tried tweaking on the antenna trimmer screw? It is the one associated with the large section of the tuning capacitor.

:Yes Lewis, I've gotten about all I can get out of tweakin' it. I'm playing right now. Using the loop and also running a wire around the inside of the cabinet. Works ok but as soon as I touch the loop reception increases dramatically. If I can act as an antenna there has to be a way to rig a miniature human body in there or something that receives signals as good as the human body. Maybe it's my pacemaker that's acting as an antenna.
