:I took apart a 600A meter and found the same problem. My guess would be instant glue because it flows so easily. You would have to find a way (such as a needle type syringe) to get a precise amount on the tape.Since the coil will have some preload on it this is very delicate work. The print left by the tape is a clue on the alignment of the parts.I was not successful. My solution: Order a brand new meter from WWW.alltubetesters.com (yes they are available for close to $200 including shipping).I figure, if I keep the receipt, I'll increase the value of my tester by that amount.New transformers are also available along with a bunch of other goodies!!At least this way the tester can be returned to almost new condition.Good Luck!
Thanks for the reply. Hearing the $200 makes me REALLY anxious to try it and get it right - but too intimidated to do it until I know "everything" - so it could be awhile! What went wrong with your attempted repair?
By the way, there is a meter shop in Midland Texas that is willing to look at those - but they say it could run anywhere from $ 50 to $ 200 or ???
Thanks,
Eddie
