Zenith 6s340 question

The previous owner must have had some work done on this set. The rectifier tube in the set is a 5X4G which has filament pins on 7 and 8. The correct tube is 6X5 with filament pins on 2 and 7. This set could not have worked. Interesting but it would not operate, would it? (unless re wired but it is not)

Del: might have been rewired after an H-K short in the 6X5 burned out the original power xfmr? That was what Zenith often did for warranty claims.

Does the xfmr have a 5-V winding?

Must set this set aside for a few days. Thanks for suggestions. Deltysdal@aol.com
