Zenith 6S222 Dial Glass help needed
9/8/2008 11:47:11 PMBob E.
Just got this radio with no Dial Glass cover..
Does this radio originally have a convex type glass
dial cover or was it a flat dial glass piece?
If convex type...can you tell me where to check for
a used glass cover or a reproduction?
Thanks, Bob

Hi Bob:
It's 6-3/4" diameter.
Yes it's convex depending on what side you are on could be concave if you're inside the radio looking out...lol.

You can find it cheap from clock repair guys on line.
Look up horology supplies.

THanks again for the source for convex glass...
I called them and they require a $15 purchase and
the 6-3/4" diameter glass is only $8.95...Have
you replaced one of these into a Zenith 6s222 before?
I am just thinking that if it could be a little bigger or a little smaller I would order two different
sizes to be sure I got one that fit the best in lieu of minimum purchase. Or if anyone else reading this would like to buy one I could make a deal to split the cost.. Just trying to save a few pennies :O)

Try Bill Turner at: http://www.dialcover.com/

If the dialcover is circular, he probably can help. I bought one from him, and it was perfect. I sent him the bezel so that the glass would match exactly.

Hurry, because Bill has had health issues.

Bill Turner is a dead end for glass. That's how I finally found the stuff via horologists.

I sent an order to Bill and waited and waited.
He advised me that his supplier wasn't answering the phone.

I asked him to keep trying.
He gave up and refunded my money.

So by necessity I had to (luckily) look elsewhere.

No I did not replace the one on my Zenith 6s222 but I DID replace one on my Howard of the same size... but I can't remember now the exact name the clock-guy I got it from in Ohio.
He took my personal check and had no minimum order.

If Io can find the old order receipt I'll send you his name too.. but I suggest you keep searching under clock glass guys... that's how I got the last name I sent to you in a cpl mins on google.
