Need Silvertone Schematic Help
9/1/2008 6:39:12 PMJohnny
Happy Labor Day! I finally found my chassis layout for this Silvertone. In the NA resources the model 1828 has my chassis (14 tubes) but the schematic associated with it only has 12 tubes on it. Unless I'm missing something. When I look at the model 1831 it is the wrong chassis layout but the associated schematic has 14 tubes. The 1831 schematic also shows two speakers and my cabinet only has one 12" speaker. Either my speakers have been altered or there is a mix-up in paperwork somewhere. Can anyone shed any light on this dilemna? Thanks!

Johhny,
There are two pair of 45's in the output stage and two 45's as drivers = 6 - 45's

:I understand that part Carl. But! Is that the schematic for my single speaker radio and is that the schematic for my 1828 chassis? When you look up the 1828 schematic it has only one speaker and only 12 tubes but the chassis on the 1828 has 14 tubes and matches my chassis.

Johhny,
The schematic I referenced is for the 1828. It does show 14 tubes on the schematic. Look closely at the 45's marked output. There ARE two at each place.
The plates of each pair are tied together as are the grids of each pair.

:I just knew I was missing something. Thanks Carl. I see now there's a set of filaments above and one below each tube input. I know I'm new to this and I've never seen a schematic drawn like this. Does this mean that the inputs to each set of 45's is common to both tubes in that set? In other words the top set input comes off the .02 cap and the bottom set input comes off the .1 cap?
