Hickok 600A meter
8/21/2008 12:08:19 AMEddie
I picked up a Hickok 600A with a "loosey-goosey" meter. I was surprised to open it and find that the needle-carriage has no upper pivot. Instead, the needle is mounted to a disk on a short shaft, and the disk seems to have come "unglued" from the top of the armature coil - and only a hairspring to what would have been the upper pivot cup. It is not torn up at all, just unglued. Apparently, all I would have to do is reglue it to the armature winding - and would probably have to get it exactly centered, and perpindicular to the windings. BUT - what kind of glue would I use??? I presume I want something that could be removed somehow if I get it off-balance, and something that won't corrode the windings. Has anyone got experience on HOW to get it back on just right? And what glue?
(By the way - front cover is missing and nobody has seen it.)
Thank You,
Eddie
