Was given this radio as birthday gift. The cabinet shined up nicely. The radio played (after adding a new cord), but needed work. I was surprised that so many resistors had drifted so far off. Had to replace many of them. Also had to replace what appeared to be mica capacitors. The electrolytics were in good shape (appeared to have been replaced at some time with authentic looking multisection capacitor). None of the paper capacitors were shorted or open, so I left them alone. Radio plays quite well, especially considering how few stages it has. But the interesting thing was the number of resistors I had to replace. I have not encountered this before. Mark from Kalamazoo

The 100K screen dropping resistors had drifted considerably (to 24 Meg!) in my National NC-98. They must have had a hard life in that duty. Small signal resistors run cooler and seem to hold their values much better for a long time. I'm sure that manufacturing design and parts quality have a big hand in it also.
