With the tuning capacitor almost fully meshed I am receiving the 1550KHz local station. White arrows on dial face in 1.6MHz to 5.0MHZ range. When I turn the tuning capacitor in the opposite direction to say, 1260MHz the actual pointer on the dial face, which is driven directly from the tuning capacitor shaft, rotates clockwise to a higher number rather than to a lower number. This is driving me crazy.
I hope this has all made sense and someone can help me figure this out. It's almost as if something electronically has flip-flopped. Can a radio be so far out of alignment to cause this? I didn't change anything from the time I got this radio except caps, power cord and two wires that had really bad insulation. If you can... Please give me any input you may have. Thanks!!!
::Thanks Walt. I went back to basics and decided to ignore the problem all together and just do an AM alignment from the 550KHz-1600KHz range on the dial. This thing was really messed up. I was able to bring it into alignment and the radio is working great now. Thanks again!

:: Is it possible that this is a mechanical problem with the dial/bandswitch linkage? Does this radio have the single round dial with the indicator-window to tell you what band-scale you are on? I bought an owners manual for my 9-S-367 (with the shutter-leaf style dials that change with the bandswitch) from Alan Jesperson and it cleared up a lot of questions that I had about it's operation (i.e.- the pushbuttons). The oscillator section may be having trouble tracking on the higher frequencies (18 mc-daytime) try to see if it hears a signal generator tone or try a substitute tube if avalible. This is a nice radio.
