We have connected out Digital Converter box in series with our analog VCR then to the analog TV. All works fine except the VCR will not play back anything we have supposedly recorded. What are the hook ups?

Outside antenna to Converter Box to TV in series (so far) No cable or satellite involved.

Antenna. . . . TO.. . VCR. . . TO. . . Tee Wee.
If using the converter in its digital mode, its RF output will be on your opted channel 3 or 4 that you initially set up the unit for, and then it goes into the VCR, did you then set your VCR's station tuning to that channel 3-4, and NOT to the station you wanted to be recorded ? ? ?

Since that station being received was predetermined by the converter boxes tuning and the resultant video and audio was outputted on that mentioned channel (3 or 4).

Still no luck in recording to VCR or at least in playback. Converter is from Target and is Sansonic. And those folks were spoken to for 3 1/2 hour phone calls and still no luck. They finally said it was our VCR. But the VCR worked before with analog tv and still does. The government must have something more important to do than tell us what TV viewing we MUST have.

Del,
Looks like you have to bypass the converter box to record analog signal according to their website, although I agree with EDD that you should be able to record from the output of the box.

Couldn't find much on the web about Sansonic boxes.

According to the dtv2009 site, Sansonic does not claim that it's box will pass analog signals through to the TV:

What that means, is the converter box acts like your vcr, when it is shut off it will pass a signal through it. When you aren't using your vcr, you can watch cable or off air (with an antenna) programs without removing the vcr from your setup. I bought a Magnavox from Walmart, and like so many others, it doesn't pass a signal through when off. Just static, and since the audio is low when it is on, the static is really loud. Keeps the kids from using it too much.

My wife wants to record her daily soaps and then watch them in the evening. It seems she cannot do so now with the converter box unless it is bypassed. She will not be able to record anything if only digital is received in February.
