Hi Just re capped a Zenith 11 S 464 reception cuts In and out..Sprayed the selectors with contact cleaner. Especially the band selector .... but I have to work the local and distant selector and the band switch every quite often to keep the stations coming In...Any advice.
Thank you.

Bill - your symptoms might point to the oscillator pooping out. If so, then it might likely be caused by weak emission of the oscillator/mixer tube.

If you have a tube tester, you can check the tube.

You can also listen for the oscillator on another, nearby radio. The oscillator should run at the AM station freq, plus the IF freq.

By the way, I see a schematic for 10S464 but not a 11S464. Are you sure of the model number?

Thank you Doug ....I will check the 1232 tube again..If I remember the tube tested out of range that may be the problem..My mistake It is a 11 S 474 Zenith.
Thanks again

Bill: No, the 1232 tube is the 1st RF amp. The 6A8 is the converter (oscillator and mixer); that's the one to look at.
