Crosley 610 Gembox

I acquired a 1928 gembox with the matching dynacone speaker. When I got it home I opened up the radio and fount that someone back in the 30s has replaced mershon condenser with some other caps unser the chassis and did not keep the tin can for the condenser. Now there is a big hole were the condenser used to be.My question is, Will this de value the radio? I will be doing a restoration on the radio and I was wondering if I need to start looking for the condenser replacement.

I have a Crosley "Bandbox," which has a mershon cap, so I can visualize what you are saying.

Anything that is missing will devalue a receiver to a collector. Stein's guide (6th edition) values the Gembox at $75-$95 (but in today's market maybe it would be less). That value range would be for a complete set.

If you are willing to wait long enough, maybe a parts set will show up on eBay?
