What exactly is this?
Any help is appreciated.

Does the other end of the cable go to the phono board on the radio chassis?

As Fred R states in another thread, it is most likely for a phonograph attachment. I believe this switch/circuit is shown on the schematic of the 9K2 on this site under resources.

Thank you for the reply.
Can I remove it without affecting any of the radio performance?
Terry F
You could remove and use the jumpers shown in the service book. Why not leave it. It could serve as a place to feed an Ipod, FM tuner or some other audio source in the future. You could feed vintage music or old time radio shows and play them through it.

Same radio, different topic.
Can I replace C61 with a 22mfd 450V electrolytic cap? If so, is there a polarity issue? This is located by the output tube one the schematic. It is a cardboard
case cap mounted to the side of the chassis and is a 20MFD cap rated at 25V.
As always, thank you in advance for all of your help.
Terry F
"Terry, You could replace a 20 mfd/25v cap with a 22mfd/450 vdc cap, but even Radio Shack probably has a 22mfd at 25 vdc (or higher) cap which would be cheaper and much smaller."
I agree also...save that harder to get and more expensive 22 / 450 for a future application that justifies / needs that HV spec.
If there is any questoin on the polarity of its installation, that would be a common situation of the negative going to ground and its positive terminal going to the cathode of the 6L6, functioning as its cathode bypass capacitor.
