:I replaced my electrolytics and fired up my radio. I began recieving stations. not many maybe 4 or 5 at both ends of the dial. I then began recapping the paper caps one at a time and fired up the radio each time to make sure I did not do anything bad. I was doing fine then I replaced two caps before firing it up again. I lost all stations but one. However I did get improved volume and tone control and much louder hum through the speaker. Is this normal to loose some stations when you recap? Or would this be indicative that I made an error? Should I continue recapping or go back and try and figure out what I did? Also some of the caps are a Charcoal black color.( this is the normal color ) and an odd shape from some of the other paper caps. These were the ones that I was changing out and I changed them with the same values as they indicate on their side. By the way the only station is on the low end of the dial, around the 830am mark. Thanks for your time and help. Tim
Consulting the marked up schema of your unit, compare what units that you have changed out , as we have no idea on how many you have done to date.
I have highlighted typical units that get changed...with all of the units electrolytics being primo number uno...additionally, I have red /yellow marked up the most critical failure units of the otherwise solely yellow marked up units.
The turquoise marked up units have a very, very low suspicion rate.
And, as for the bright red box mark up units, you don't typically mess with them unless you confirm and KNOW them to be faulted.
