What can be added to 6v auto radios to make them 'better' sounding? After I install the capaciors and a few resistors they sound clear and are okay. But what to do to make them 'better'? Thanks Deltysdal@aol.com

Assuming that “better” is relevant to stronger bass response:
Are you using the original speaker…or at least one of the same impedance, degree of sensitivity and cone compliance.
AND is the speaker is just laying out in the open ? ……., versus receiving at least some degree of baffling …albeit, with it being rather loosely baffled with its installation in the automobiles dash, but even then, bass performance was somewhat satisfactory.
Try a test using a baffled / enclosed speaker.

Thanks Edd. I have read about old radio repair in car magazines. Some folks advertise to make the old radio better than 'new' or the like. Best wishes.
