What are the odds that the problem could be fixed with a recap? I'm concerned about an open coil that would put the project out of my budget. Anyone have experience with this set?
All receiver tubes tested good, though the 6L6 output tubes are a bit weak, and the 5Y3 rectifiers could be better.
Aaron,
I have two of these monsters and all they needed was a recap. There are a lot of caps on these so take your time. Be sure to check the resister in the tuning eye socket-they drift in value and will impact the eye performance. The model 154 series have just incredible sound and the chassis/power units were of first class construction and performance that you just can't find today. Enjoy!

At this point I'm ready to order new caps, but I'm having trouble reading the schematic I downloaded because it's too fuzzy. I was hoping to make a list of the cap values without having to remove any from the chassis that I can't see.
I think I'll buy the Orange Drop caps from Radio Daze like I did for my Philco 46-420. But any idea where I can get a clear schematic, or at least a cap list?
::I have just picked up a 1940's Magnavaox console, model 42A, that uses the CR154 chassis. I powered it up slow with a variac, and get some static from the volume control, but the receiver section seems to be dead. I don't get anything on the tuning eye tube either.

Aaron, if you either post or email your email address to me I will send you sharp scans of the CR154 Riders data.
