hi
i have 1960's portable 3" reel to reel tape recorder.
i would like to find capstan drive assy's diameter
or a part #
all the rubber on it is gone bad.i think i can find rubber for a reels but capstan drive is important
so i rather do not guess at the size of it.
it is a pain to remove the assy.
thank you

Hi Walter!
sorry about that.
i should have known better then that.matter of fact i got on today to do just that.
they call it a type :EL3585/00 ....(9V)
mainly what i need is the tire for a motor pulley.
i think i can make the tires for the reels.today i have bought 2 belts and i'm going to grind them down to fit.i also looked in PRB catalog today (they make repl. belts and tires ).this model is not listed.
so if you could give me somthing on that idler i would realy be greatful and i'll return a favoir.
till recantly i did have tv/vcr/stereo repair shop
so if you'll need help just email me.
thank you for now.
ps
this is a great site.many good people from what i've read.i do go a lot to repair discussion site but i tell you what you guys here are more mature and friendly.

Hi Dave

I have that service manual. 31 pages, much text (in german) but all important information also in pictures with all notations, how to adjust. I think, you have an interesting device there, well worth an effort. Please mail me privatly your adress, so i can send you a copy of the service-manual, its far to much to scan and e-mail.

Cheers Walter

Hello David, I think Walter probably has the service information for your Philips tape recorder but if not let me know and I'll send it to you. I'm sorry I can't help with the parts for it. Cheers, Don Black.
