Crosley 601 bandbox

Hello. I purchased a radio Crosley 601 bandbox but I have a problem: I do not know the voltage it needs, I have a cord red, one green, one blue, one black, one brown and two yellows. Please inform them that I would be grateful if the batteries that are necessary and what are cord. Thank you. Greetings: Miguel

Miguel: Batteries are not readily available and not the preferred choice. Best to use an AC-powered battery eliminator. Antique Electronic Supply sells a kit. The ARBE III is nicer, but quite a bit more expensive.

Here is your schematic: http://www.nostalgiaair.org/PagesByModel/686/M0039686.pdf

Referring to the first (top) schematic, the power connections, reading left to right, are:

Yellow: A-, C+
White: +90V
Black: A+ (+6V), B-
Blue: +45
Brown: C- (-4.5V)
Green: C- (-9V)
Red: +135V

You reported having two yellows. Maybe one is actually white?

This set has some pot metal parts in the tuning mechanism. these are prone to internal corrosion, distortion, and breakage. On my Bandbox, I had to get creative with epoxy to repair the bad parts, particularly the tuning gear.

Slight correction:

For the 2nd audio tube, I'm using an '01A - thus the -9V "C" bias on the Green battery lead.

If you use a '71A for the 2nd audio, then the schematic voltage table calls for -22.5V grid bias. (The C- voltages don't have to be exact.)

A used '01A is cheaper than a '71A, and works OK. But if your set has a '71A, then stick with it and use -22.5V bias.

I have the console, upright cabinet for one of these. It had been gutted and we use it for storage of VCRs. Works fine for that.
