8TS30 HV lead wont stay on Picture tube

Hello All,
I tried pushing it on but it pops right off. It doesn't seem to want to click into place and stay on. How can I get it to stay on? I seem to remember something that can be put on it to hold it in.

Thanks,

Dave

Some older connectors pressed in. Can you bend the prongs a little and try that. Maybe the boot is too stiff and pushing the connector out? Newer connectors are effectively two wires that are squeezed together to fit. You can't have this type as they won't fall out.

Norm,
Two of the prongs fell off. They were very loose. So I'm only working with 4. I tried to bend them out more but there is no lip. It's completely smooth. So I have no idea how to get anything to catch. How should they prongs be bent so it will catch? I have never had this problem before. This is very frustrating. Push it on and the suction cup, instead of sticking to the glass, pulls the connector right out. Should I put a tiny amount of water on the suction cup and glass or will that arc?

Thanks,

Dave

Norm,
Looking through some old junker parts I found another connector just like the broken one. I replaced the broken one with the new one and it stays on fine. Those probably broke frequently back when this set was in use and they were probably very easy to find.
I just replaced all the paper and filter capacitors and I'm now going to test the tubes before turning it on. I'll let everyone know how it's working.

Thanks,

Dave
