My son was in Iraq for 18 months. He didn't enjoy it a bit.

He says my grandchildren will never have a sandbox to play in. He never wants to see sand again in his life, even at the beach.

If you ever go to D. C., go see the Viet Nam memorial.
Look at all those names engraved in that stome, put your hand on it, look at the gifts left under some of the names, and if you don't get a lump in your throat and a tear in your eye, you ain't human!

Spent 3 long, grueling years in DC and got to go to all the memorials IN THE DAYTIME. The fellow Seabee is was supposed to relieve, SW3 Hatcher, name is right there along with some of the Army MAT team guys I knew well. Took a lot of pictures and enjoyed seeing 95,295,395, and 495 in the rear view mirror....never plan to return!! Mike C

A few years ago I was out jogging on a lakeside highway in mid central Minnesota. A fellow was in front of me about a block and I caught up with him and we ran together for about 1/2 hour. He was US Army Chief of Staff, Dennis Reimer.

I did my military service working for Delta. We flew a lot of supplies over there, and brought back a lot of "human remains" as they so politely put it. Looking at one of those flag draped coffins coming through Atlants on it's way home for it's final rest sure made everyone stop and have a moment of silence.

Thanks, Del.

Every Memorial Day, I feel a little sad. Proud, too, but still sad. I'll hang out our flag and try to find things to do around the house.
